Ask Questions - Develop a Plan
As much as we try to save trees, sometimes it's necessary to have them removed. Whether they have grown too big near the house or common area, have become compromised and are at risk for falling, or are completely dead. Our tree surgeons can work magic. Once the tree is removed, we are happy to plant another in it's place.
All plants start in soil. Soil is their foundation and is often over looked as a valuable aspect of their survival. Often soil quality will exhaust and become compacted. This makes it very difficult for the tree to not only absorb ample nutrients, but spread out and continue to grow. We use a pneumatic (air powered) system that allows us to punch holes in the ground and fill them with new and nutrient rich soil, without injuring the root structure. In cases where the soil is heavily compacted, this method allows us to break up the soil 4 - 12" deep, surrounding the tree, and mixing nutrient rich soil in to allow the roots to breathe and absorb easily again.
We'd like to say that pruning and removing trees is easy, fun, safe and simple. Many times, that is far from the truth. Often a tree is over a house, structure, garden, etc. and has to be approached in a calculated and sophisticated way. We take pride in our teamwork and ability to asses the situation, configure a plan, and execute our solution. From twig to trunk, we're able to control every piece of the tree until it's safely to the ground.
The rule of thumb for fire wise landscaping is to keep all low growing vegetation 30-70 feet away from buildings. Also, big trees should be thinned out, pruned up off the ground, and trimmed away from buildings. In the southwest, we focus on being fire wise due to the dry climate and high heat. Fire could strike at any time. Let us help you mitigate the risk of fire and educate you in proper ways to keep your home and property safe.
Bark beetles sweep through areas of land and devastate tree populations. Often times infesting 10-500 trees at once; often attacking trees in the pine family. They bore into the tree and lay their eggs. While inside, they spread a fugus that they carry in their mouth. Once this fungus gets into the cambium layer, it spreads quickly and the tree begins to die. Some trees will die within a few months of their attack. To the untrained eye, an infested tree is hard to spot and it's often too late once the tree starts to decline due to their damage. The best way to mitigate the risk of further infestation is to remove the infected tree(s). That said, there are a few ways to approach this kind of project. Let us help you figure out a plan for you and your land and take a stance against the devastation.
Pruning is important for all trees. Whether deciduous or coniferous, trees often need help to grow strong and healthy in a southwest climate. Many evergreens thrive after cutting out the dead wood and clearing out the interior of needles and brush. Brush being caught inside the interior is a fire hazard but also it traps moisture and with the high heat, it causes mold and weakness in the branches. In deciduous trees, they thrive after a proper pruning. We can train them to grow and produce optimally while still enabling shade and aesthetic value.
